Want to play a chord solo like Joe Pass? In this short Youtube lesson, I show you the method that I’ve used to incorporate some cool Joe Pass style chord licks into my playing (the lesson comes with PDF and audios of the examples played + backing tracks for practice).
By the way, I recently released an in-depth course on Joe Pass single line and chordal style based on his approaches over his landmark recording of “Watch What Happens”, from the album Intercontinental.
Happy woodshedding!

I have been following your work lately and find your method unique.
There are a couple things I would like to ask. One is I am a pick player (fender mediums) and would like to get your read and look at that “style”. Second, and I’m aware this is a players feel thing in many ways, yet the tone heard, at least by my ears, is something I would like to get close to…some of what sounds like a reverb setting. can you do a “lesson” about things as mentioned above. Thanks

Hi NR, thanks for your message! Yes jazz is fine with a pick, it can be a bit trickier for chordal based jazz especially solo guitar but for ensemble playing it works well as it’s much easier to bust out faster lines with a pick.
